Located within Robert B. Aikens Commons at the University of Michigan Law School, Kirkland & Ellis Café is a welcoming destination for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to gather, study, and enjoy freshly prepared food and beverages throughout the day. Opened in 2011 alongside Aikens Commons, the café sits within one of Michigan Law’s most distinctive gathering spaces. The soaring glass-covered Commons connects historic areas of the Law School while creating a bright, inviting environment for conversation, collaboration, and a break between classes. Operated by Picasso Restaurant Group, Kirkland & Ellis Café offers a selection of breakfast favorites, handcrafted coffee and espresso beverages, sandwiches, deli classics, snacks, and convenient grab-and-go choices designed for the pace of campus life. The café is named for Kirkland & Ellis, the international law firm founded in Chicago in 1909 and a longtime supporter of legal education at the University of Michigan. Today, the café continues to serve as an important part of the Michigan Law experience—a comfortable place to meet with classmates and colleagues, recharge between classes, or simply enjoy a great cup of coffee. From faculty lunches and student gatherings to commencement celebrations, receptions, executive functions, and special University events, Kirkland & Ellis Café provides flexible catering for the Michigan Law community.
