Welcome to the new Picasso Restaurant brand guidelines. With the new launch comes many changes you will need to consider over the next several weeks. But rest assured, everything you need to know about changing your identity from what it has been to what it needs to be now is here.

Logos

Our Logo is the key building block of our identity, the primary visual element that identifies us. The signature is a combination of the the symbol itself  and our company name – they have a fixed relationship that should never be changed in any way.

PRIMARY COLOR SYSTEM

Two colors are at the very core of our existence. Picasso Green and Black play a vital role in establishing a clear and powerful image and in defining the Picasso Restaurant Groups identity. Using this system appropriately and consistently creates an additional layer of distinction.

Picasso Green and Black are Picasso Restaurant Group's main colors, and the colors that should be used most of the time in communication materials. For a nice visual color balance, we recommend designs use the proportion of 80 percent Picasso Green to 20 percent Black.

COLOR LINGO

Colors are used in many different ways, depending on the intended use. Use the definitions below to help choose the correct color formulas for your materials.

PANTONE

An acronym for Pantone Matching System®. This color system is also often referred too as "spot" colors for printing. Printers use a special mix of ink to find the color needed.

CMYK

CMYK (or "process") refers to the 4 ink colors used in color printing. Those colors are cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y) and black (K). Use this color system for any print materials.

RGB

RGB (red, green, blue) refers to colors used on screen only (web, phone, video, etc.). Photos and solid colors should be in RGB when intended for on-screen viewing.

HEX

Hex refers to the hexadecimal number assigned to solid colors for use on the web. Hex formulas will appear as #xxxxxx

Note: Colors will appear differently on each computer monitor, and will vary from monitor to printed piece. Use the CMYK color formulas for print and the RGB or HEX formula for all digital materials.

SECONDARY COLOR SYSTEM

The colors in our supporting palette were chosen to complement our primary palette of Picasso Green and Black, providing additional range to the brand experience. The Secondary colors are to be used for accent and support to the Primary color palette. They are intended for complementing the Primary color system for digital and print materials.

TIPS ON USING COLOR IN YOUR MATERIALS

  • Our primary colors are Picasso Green and Black, so start with one or both of these colors when choosing your palette.
  • Use the secondary colors sparingly. Their purpose is to support the primary palette and the use of too many colors can become overwhelming. Choose only one, two or three support colors at a time.
  • Think about your subject matter when deciding on support colors, and choose colors that link your content subject matter to the visual look of the piece.
  • Avoid color combinations that bring other regional universities or colleges to mind.

TYPE TIPS AND LINGO

San Serif

A sans serif is a typeface with no decorative details, additional strokes or spurs at the end of the letters. They have a more modern, minimalist look.

Serif

A serif is a typeface with small decorative edges at the ends of the letters. They tend to look more traditional and sophisticated.

All-Caps Headers

Because the human eye is more accustomed to reading lowercase text, all-caps should be used sparingly and is best suited for short headings or sub-headings.

Left Justify

Left-align body copy whenever possible. Left-aligned copy is the easiest for our eyes to follow and therefore makes copy easier to read.
